Safe Communities 2019 AGM was held on March 12, 2020 at the Red Deer County Administration Building. Gord Buck of the Y.I.E.L.D. program was the guest speaker. Gord brought the program’s driving simulator so that everyone could give their driving skills a test.
Executive and Committee Meetings 2022
Safe Communities board and committee meetings continue on a regular basis.
Board meetings are held bimonthly on the third Thursday of the month.
Executive Committee meetings are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month.
Falls Coalition meetings are every second Thursday of the month.
Road Committee meetings are held January, May, September and November on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Bike committee meetings are held at the discretion of the chair.
All board and executive meetings are held by zoom or in person at the St. John Ambulance building at 6519 - 67 Street Red Deer
Walk With The Mayors 2019
Walk With The Mayors kicked off Falls Prevention Month at the Gary Harris Center with many of our surrounding cities Mayors coming from all over Central Alberta supporting the event.
Senior Information Fair
On October 1, the City of Red Deer hosted a Senior Information Fair in the field house at the Collicutt Centre. We talked to dozens of seniors about the need to be fit and stay active to help prevent falls. To make things more exciting a fire alarm went off and the facility announced “Be prepared to evacuate the building!” The problem was solved and we got to stay put!

We attended the Olds Showcase sponsored by the Town of Olds to highlight services available
Back-to-School Patrol
AMA sponsored the back-to-school-patrol at Holy Family School. Representatives from AMA, Safe Communities, RCMP and Red Deer Enforcement were on hand to greet the children on their first day back to school and give them some gifts as safety reminders.
New Fatal Vision Goggles
Safe Communities obtained Fatal Vision Goggles simulating marijuana impairment. We plan to use these throughout the community to create awareness involving recreational use of marijuana causing impairment and the consequences that may follow.
Penhold Discovery Night
The Town of Penhold hosted Penhold Discovery Night to showcase services available in the area.
